Mortecai Savage Winston Jr. (October 5th, 1939) is an American Novelist who has written for the better part of the 20th Century and the early 21st Century. He is also known by many aliases, such as John GroverSavage Williams, and Xavier Blume, by which he is a prolific writer and has written many successful novels such as The Spy Who Played FairSeven Seas of Blood and Gore, and the Pulitzer Award Finalist, Jaroom and The Cloud Dance Child.

Originally he worked for the C.I.A in the 50's and in the 60's, but after the release of the best-selling novel, The Spy Who Played Fair, he retired from the C.I.A and devoted his time to writing full time. He has since won three Pulitzer Awards, five Nebula Awards, three Hugo Awards, One
